Full Service Wedding Planner or Day of Wedding Coordinator?

As a Dallas wedding photographer we have worked with countless Dallas and Fort Worth full service wedding planners and day of coordinators. There is a big difference in what the two do, and one may be a better fit for you than the other in your wedding planning process. The same person may offer both of these services in their collection of packages.
Day of Coordinator
If you are looking forward to planning each and every detail of your wedding, you likely do not need to have a full service wedding planner. A day of coordinator may do just the trick for you and your wedding.
When you hire a day of coordinator, as with every single vendor you hire for your wedding, you must clarify what you are expecting from that vendor with their expectations. You want to make sure that you get what you are paying for, but also make sure that you working with someone who can actually deliver what you are looking for. It is terribly important to hire vendors that you can have confidence in, because you will never have this day back again.
A day of coordinator is responsible for managing the day of your wedding from start to finish. She will be in contact with your vendors, including your Dallas wedding photographer, approximately a week before your wedding to introduce herself and go over any details. She will create a timeline of your wedding day and manage the vendors as they set up.
It should be noted that she will also coordinate the wedding rehearsal the night before the wedding. The coordinator is responsible for making sure that key vendors, such as the DJ, Dallas wedding photographer, and videographer are all in place and aware of what is coming next so they do not miss a thing, including during the reception.
During the ceremony, the coordinator will cue the music to start the wedding, make sure everyone has received their flowers, and make sure that the ushers have gotten all of the guests to their seats. After the wedding, the coordinator’s job is not done until the venue is cleaned up, vendors are paid, family members have left, and the bride’s dress and gifts have gotten to a secure location.
A bride that is too busy to plan her wedding or simply has little to no interest in the planning will want to hire a full service coordinator. This package will cost much more, as it is much more time consuming. Having a planner will streamline your wedding planning process greatly.
Your planner will have vendors that she prefers to work with that you will be able to choose from. She will have close contacts with the best of the best in your city. You will work with her to determine your budget and she will help to keep you within that budget. Depending on you are willing to pay, your planner may even help with the planning of your engagement party, shower, and bachelorette party. It is her job to help your dreams become reality.
On wedding day, your planner will put on her wedding day coordinator hat and help all of those plans she has been making come off without a hitch.
